Abstract |
The Federal Housing Administration has in recent years become increasingly aware of the pressing need for improvement in household sewage disposal systems. As a result, a project was undertaken to develop practical design criteria for seepage pits and beds. Careful consideration led to the selection of seven states for study areas, exhibiting wide diversities in such factors as climate, soil types, and construction requirements and practices. Water meter records for individual homes, whenever available, were secured from the water company so that fairly accurate estimates of loading could be established for disposal systems. An analysis of individual water meter records for about 240 homes in Phoenix, Arizona is presented herein, the records being collected in eight subdivisions that range from 2 1/2 years to 5 1/2 years old. |
