"Increasing demand for water and potential shifts in availability of water due to climate change present challenges to water system operators, who are responsible for maintaining water supply reliability, both in terms of quantity and quality. One promising approach for addressing these challenges is through application of systems operations approaches to improve reservoir operations. Dynamic Reservoir Operations (DRO) are operating rules that change based on the present state of a system, such as storage levels, current inflow, and/or forecasted conditions. Dynamic operations tend to be effective because they depend on a diverse group of variables that result in a more robust operational framework, providing utilities more information for operating their system to meet objectives under varying conditions."--Executive summary. |
