Abstract | Biodiversity in forests of the Pacific Coast States faces immediate threats from non-sustainable land use practices, and potential threats from climate change and other alterations of the global ecosystem. Deterioration of biodiversity in these forests can be minimized through a combination of near-term mitigation and management activities, and long-term changes in environmental policy. Implementation of a successful program will require the full participation of private individuals and groups, industry, state agencies, and federal agencies. |
