Abstract |
The material in the report is an extension of previous studies of turbulent eddy diffusion in the ocean. The present research was undertaken to extend the previously proposed models of turbulent diffusion from continuous point and large-scale sources by formulating a term to account for the rate of change of substances, such as indicator bacteria to gather additional information on the surface dispersion characteristics of waste material discharged from submarine outfalls equipped with and without diffuser systems, and to assess the effects of various environmental factors on the observed rates of disappearance of indicator bacteria. |
