Abstract | The study is an in-depth look at the recycling of ferrous solid waste. The study examines: the sources, types, and quantities of iron and steel scrap; the markets for iron and steel scrap; the functions of the ferrous scrap processing industry; and the technology of iron and steel scrap utilization. Problems inhibiting greater use of iron and steel scrap are identified and discussed, and recommendations are made for solutions to these problems. A survey of the ferrous scrap industry was the basis for many of the identified problems and proposed solutions, and also provided numerous statistics on the ferrous scrap industry. (Author) |
