Represents the work of a group of clinicians, scientists, public health and public policy experts who spent many months reviewing the evidence with respect to the adverse effects of ETS on human health. The major findings to emerge from this report include: even trace exposures to ETS result in measurable physiologic changes; the adverse effects of ETS exposure are not limited to respiratory disease; ETS has a cumulative effect over time; ETS impacts multiple organ systems; and children are especially vulnerable to the effects of ETS. |
