Abstract |
New methods of ambient air analysis were used to define more clearly the relationships between oxidants and their precursors. Non-methane hydrocarbons, NOx, O2, and oxidants were measured at the same time and location (Riverside, California). The ambient air data presented in this report are displayed as a series of conditional joint distributions. The correlations range from excellent--ozone vs oxidant--to poor or bimodal--ozone with nonmethane-ethane organics (NMEO) or with NOx. The ratio of NMEO to NOx was always higher than indicated by inventories and showed a large scatter. No depletion of NMEO with respect to acetylene could be detected. |
