Contents Notes | Abstract: Accurate, detailed easy-access factors for converting from United States customary to metric systems of measurement are provided. The International System of Units, (SI) a metric system that links the categories of measurement in one, sensible, coherent system of units, is emphasized. Conversion factors are provided for 17 categories of measurement: angular measure, area, atomic energy units, density and concentration, electricity and magnetism, energy, flow, force, length, light, mass, power, pressure, temperature, time, velocity, and volume. Computations are easily made using pocket calculators to handle 10-digit figures. Based on National Bureau of Standards publications, most information is technical. Suggestions for easing SI use are less technical to serve as a practical guide. Tables for conversion are presented separately to ease use. |
