Abstract |
Phenolic compounds condense with 4-Aminoantipyrine and by subsequent oxidation under alkaline conditions produces a color the intensity of which is proportional to the phenol concentration. These condensation and oxidation reactions have been applied to the detection and determination of phenols in water and waste waters. The report discusses the physical and chemical factors influencing these reactions from a critical review of the literature and from independent research. (Author) |
