Abstract |
The report contains recommendations for improving the health and safety of divers in fourteen biomedical topical chapters. They are: (1) exchange of inert gases, oxygen and carbon dioxide; (2) osteonecrosis; (3) compression and decompression protocols; (4) respiratory/pulmonary function in hyperbaric exposures; (5) audio/vestibular derangements; (6) high pressure nervous syndrome; (7) thermal problems; (8) use of drugs and other medical treatment under hyperbaric conditions; (9) physiological and toxic effects of respiratory and contaminant gases (acute and chronic); (10) cognitive and psychomotor performance; (11) oxygen; (12) assessment of gases suitable for diving; (13) microbiological aspects; and (14) subtle physiology changes. |
