Abstract | In 1994, the Office of Research and Development (ORD) of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted an assessment of the potential U.S. population exposures resulting from the use of methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT) as an additive in gasoline. In a May 11, 2000, letter from Margo T. Oge, Director, Office of Transportation and Air Quality, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, to Donald R. Lynam, Vice President, Air Conservation, Ethyl Corporation, EPA committed to consider whether or not there is a need to change the conclusions of that assessment in light of the data developed and submitted to EPA by Ethyl Corporation as a part of the study entitled Manganese Exposure Study (Toronto). The present document presents the methodology and results of the ORD re-evaluation of its 1994 exposure assessment of expected inhalation exposures to manganese particulate, if MMT were to be used in unleaded gasoline in the United States. |
