Abstract |
Public utilities can be divided into those providing transportation services and those which provide services through physical connection between the plant of the supplier and the premises of consumers. Water supply services which fall into the latter category furnish a service that is often without competition. The purpose of this paper is to examine some of the tradeoffs that may exist between the economies of scale for producing water and the diseconomies of transporting it to a point of use. |
