Abstract |
An attempt was made to evaluate whether the simultaneous administration of the urinary bladder tumor promoter, saccharin, and the substance being tested for carcinogenicity could be developed into a rapid and efficient bioassay for bladder carcinogens. Dibutylnitrosamine (DBN) a bladder and-to a lesser extent-liver carcinogen, was used as the test substance. The attempted evaluation failed because of the high incidence of liver cancer in the rats that simultaneously received DBN and saccharin. |
