Abstract |
There is still considerable controversy regarding the use of oil spill chemicals on spills in U.S. coastal waters. While it is recognized that the magnitude of toxicity produced from the chemical products has decreased considerably with the development of new chemicals, state and federal regulatory agencies generally require approval on a case by case basis. The objective of this paper is to present values for relative effectiveness and toxicity and show how they can be combined with cost data to provide potential users a means of selection. |
