Contents Notes |
This report presents the results of a washability study of 455 raw coal channel samples with special emphasis on sulfur reduction. These raw coals contained on the average 14.0 percent ash, 1.91 percent pyritic sulfer, and 3.02 percent total sulfur. Test procedure. Collection of samples ; Sample preparation -- Experimental results. Washability data ; Evaluation of washability data ; Computer programs -- Discussion of results. Northern Appalachian Region coals ; Southern Appalachian Region coals ; Alabama Region coals ; Eastern Midwest Region coals ; Western Midwest Region coals ; Western Region coals ; Summary of all coals -- Conclusions -- Appendix A. Washability characteristics and desulfurization potential of U.S. coals -- Appendix B. A statistical evaluation of the composited washability data by region and coalbed -- Appendix C. A statistical evaluation of the composited washability data interpolated at various levels of Btu recovery by region and coalbed. |
