Abstract | In the review the nature of the operations involved in alumina production, from various ores, and their potential environmental impacts are examined with special reference to the methods in use for their control and abatement. Reference is also made to some of the socio-economic, aesthetic, ecological and physico-chemical impacts of ore mining. In addition the environmental impacts of the required instructure and off-site facilities (outside the battery limits of the plant) are also discussed. |
