Abstract
Thirteen hundred acres of land reclaimed by four coal mining companies to row crop capability were assigned soil loss estimates using the Universal Soil Loss Equation. On-site measurements were made. Some areas were in crop production. Tables were prepared to show which of nine hypothetical crop rotation/tillage method combinations would bring each of the 44 acres studied into compliance with Perry County, Illinois erosion control standards for 1995. The report concluded that sediment and erosion control within tolerance limits for reclaimed soils are achievable using common, state of the art management practices.
