Abstract
The report presents the theory and description of the QUAL-I Mathematical Modeling System which is a set of interrelated quality routing models for predicting the temporal and spatial distribution of temperature, biochemical oxygen demand and dissolved oxygen, and conservative minerals within a segment of a river basin. The governing differential equation is solved by an implicit-finite-difference technique under the assumption that advection along the longitudinal axis of the stream is the primary mode of transport. Model application results are presented. (Author)
