Abstract
The Alternative Control Techniques (ACT) document describes available control techniques for reducing PM-10 emission levels from ferrous (gray iron and steel) foundries. The document contains information on the formation of PM-10 and uncontrolled PM-10 emissions from foundries using electric induction furnaces for melting and sand molds for casting. The following PM-10 control techniques for ferrous foundries are discussed: fabric filters and wet venturi scrubbers. For each control technique, achievable controlled PM-10 emission levels, capital and annual costs, cost effectiveness, and environmental and energy impacts are presented.
