The volume contains, in ascending submission number order, 'status reports' (i.e., preliminary evaluations) prepared by the staff of the Office of Toxic Substances in EPA's Office of Pesticides and Toxic Substances for initial submissions received by EPA from chemical manufacturers, importers, processors and distributors from January 1, 1989 to September 30, 1990 under Section 8(e) the 'substantial risk' information reporting provision of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). The status reports contained in this compendium reflect only the initial phase of the Agency's evaluation process for the submitted information. The TSCA Section 8(e) status report volume has been published by EPA for two reasons. First, a volume of Section 8(e) status reports with appropriate indices will make the submitted information more accessible. Second, the volume may, by providing specific examples of submitted information and EPA's preliminary evaluation of that information, help those persons who are subject to Section 8(e) understand better the types of information that should be submitted to EPA under this mandatory reporting provision of TSCA.
