Abstract
The effects of channel meandering and of width of sinuous streams on the sediment loads and the friction factors of alluvial streams were investigated in laboratory flumes. Experiments were conducted in the subcritical flow domain in straight and meandering laboratory channels with sand beds and rigid walls. The bed forms, especially the point bars along the inner banks, play a dominant role in regulating the quasi-steady characteristics of meandering alluvial streams. (Author Modified Abstract)
