"Life can be stressful. Unfortunately, our body's physiological response to stress can adversely affect our physical health and emotional wellbeing, which can impair performance and erode personal and professional relationships. However, emerging research indicates that practicing mindfulness not only mitigates these adverse effects, it actually can strengthen the regions of the brain associated with focus, memory, reasoning, problem-solving, planning, decision-making, positivity, resilience, job satisfaction, and happiness. To help us not only learn about, but actually experience, the benefits of mindfulness, the EPA-RTP Management Council and the Cutting Edge Speakers Series Committee are pleased to host Dr. Maya McNeilly on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the EPA Auditorium for her talk entitled (3z(BMindfulness in the Workplace.(3y (BIn her presentation, Dr. McNeilly will discuss the latest neuroscience research on the effects and benefits of mindfulness, guide attendees in a brief mindfulness exercise, and discuss how we can seamlessly incorporate mindfulness into our day."--Cutting Edge Speaker Series webpage.
