Abstract
The overall objective of this research project was to determine the feasibility of kraft mill odor control by oxidation of all malodorous sulfur compounds in the digester before blow down to atmospheric pressure. This method of black liquor oxidation (BLO) would permit oxidation of odorous substances at digester temperatures and pressures and eliminate emissions of hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan and dimethyl disulfide from the digester, pulp washing and recovery furnace areas.
