Abstract
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) in cooperation with various State and Federal agencies is evaluating the impact of Resource Management Systems (RMS's) implemented under the Rural Clean Water Program in the Highland Silver Lake Watershed; Madison County, Illinois. The primary objective of this comprehensive monitoring and evaluation project is to document the effectiveness of land treatment programs in terms of water quality/quantity impacts. The physical, biological and chemical characteristics of the Highland Silver Lake Watershed have been studied since December 1981. A comprehensive monitoring network for the entire Highland Silver Lake Watershed was established and operated to document the basic hydrological, meterological and water quality factors of the project area during 1981-1984. The duration, timing and quantity of non-point source pollutants were evaluated to determine land management effects on the water quality/quantity budget.
