Abstract
Giardiasis is transmitted by contaminated drinking water or food or contact with infected individuals through the fecal-oral route of exposure. Frequently reported are outbreaks in day-care centers and infections in campers and backpackers, travelers outside the U.S., and homosexuals. Currently EPA is considering criteria to be used by State regulatory agencies to determine which public water systems must install filtration.
