Abstract
The purpose of this handbook is to explain the US Environmental Protection Agencys (EPAs) Public Notification (PN) Rule and provide specific examples of public notices. This handbook is geared to the specific needs of transient noncommunity water systems that must issue a notice when faced with a violation or situation affecting their water supply. Transient noncommunity water systems provide drinking water to a population that changes day to day. They include, among others, campgrounds, hotels, rest areas, and restaurants with their own water supplies. The majority of these systems are very small, serving 500 people or less.
