Abstract
A hydrologic model was developed for the Pecos River Basin in New Mexico to estimate the additional water that could be obtained by vegetation treatment in the forested headwater areas, by removing phreatophytes in the lower river valley, and by applying monolayer films on the major reservoirs in the Pecos Valley. The cost and benefits attributable to the increase in water supplies estimated by the hydrologic model were analyzed to determine the economic feasibility of such a program. (Author)
