Abstract
The paper includes estimates of carbon-14 production in reactors and analyses of carbon-14 behavior in various waste treatment systems at both reactors and spent fuel reprocessing plants. Environmental transport models and carbon-14 dosimetric models are briefly reviewed to ascertain some probably errors in estimating the impact of carbon-14 on man and the environment. To the extent possible, this report provides an analysis of current findings and projects what work must be performed to provide answers to questions concerning the need for the control of nuclear power sources of this environmental contaminant.
