Abstract
The bulletin provides a listing of soil, water, and contaminant data elements needed to evaluate the potential applicability of technologies for treating contaminated soils and water. With this base set of data in hand, experts familiar with the applicability of treatment technologies can better focus the advice and assistance they give to those involved at Superfund sites. The data compiled should permit preselection of applicable treatment methods and the direct elimination of others. This bulletin emphasizes the site physical and chemical soil and water characteristics for which observations and measurements should be compiled. Gathering and analyzing the information called for in this bulletin prior to extensive field investigations will facilitate streamlining and targeting of the sampling and analytical objectives of the overall program.
