Abstract |
This investigation was concerned with the study of the water balance of a small thaw lake and its relationship to other lakes in the same area. By pumping water from the lake, a response was induced which allowed study of the dynamics of the active layer surrounding the lake and determination of the amount of groundwater recharge and interconnection of the lakes. From the results of the drawdown tests, as well as from the climatological data gathered, it was concluded that there is little or no hydraulic connection between the lake and any possible groundwater system. |
