Abstract
The report presents results of a pollution prevention (P2) and control survey for printed wiring board (PWB) manufacturers and related information from literature and other sources. The pollution prevention and control survey was performed to gather and organize information about the current state of environmental technology and practices for this industry segment. The focus of the survey was on determining the types of technologies and alternative processes used, the extent of their use, key factors with regard to implementation, including costs, and their success and failure rate. Pollution prevention and control technologies covered by the survey include substitute raw materials and manufacturing processes, reuse and recycle technologies, procedural changes, and innovative treatment/disposal methods that reduce chemical use or water use and/or prevent the production of hazardous waste material and its release to the air, water, or land. The survey results are useful to all those associated with the PWB manufacturing industry. PWB manufacturers can use the results of the survey to compare their own manufacturing operations to those of the survey respondents.
