Abstract
This research program has the objective to evaluate the general applicability of three treatment processes for removal of nitrate from public water supplies. The processes are reverse osmosis (R.O.), ion exchange, and the combination of R.O. followed by ion exchange. The evaluation consists of using laboratory size and field-test equipment to establish design criteria and operating experience useful for designing a full-scale plant of approximately 1 mgd capacity.
