| Abstract |
The report presents health effects quality criteria for marine recreational waters and a recommendation for a specific criterion among those developed. It is the mathematical relationship of the swimming-associated rate of gastrointestinal symptoms among bathers to the quality of the water as determined by the density of a fecal indicator, enterococci. Thus, it can be used to provide guidelines based upon acceptable rather than detectable risk and is consistent with risk analysis. |
