Abstract | The investigation from 1952 to 1957 disclosed water quality changes wrought by early impoundment in main stem reservoirs on the Central Missouri River. These huge impoundments markedly altered discharge regimens, reduced turbidity, changed water chemistry, and promoted growth of phytoplankton which also modified water chemistry. The Public Health Service evaluated limnological modifications and developments inherent in the presence and varied operation of these reservoirs. |
