Abstract
Water quality and aquatic biological surveys were conducted during November 1967, and June and August 1968 on the East Fork Kaweah River in the Mineral King section of the Sequoia National Forest, California. The purpose of these surveys was to document the present quality of this stream prior to development of a year-round recreational area. Sampling included field measurements of temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, and electrical conductivity; water samples were analyzed for nitrogen and phosphorus forms, iron and chlorophyll. Biological assessments included algal growth potential and enumeration and identification of planktonic and attached algae and benthic animals. (Author Modified Abstract)
