Abstract
This document is designed primarily for use by owners and operators of small water systems, those producing 500,000 gallons per day or less and serving less than 5,000 persons. Other expected users are municipal managers and consulting engineers retained by utilities. Its primary purpose is to assist personnel of small water systems to understand the importance of microorganism control and to explain the design concepts, cost estimating techniques, and operational considerations associated with current technological approaches for maintaining such control.
