Abstract |
The report gives results of a brief study to determine the feasibility of a retrofit device for recovering emissions and waste heat from the flue of a residential furnace. The device resembles a small wet scrubber and collects virtually all of the oil-fired furnace's particulate, NO2, SO3, and UHC, as well as increasing the unit's efficiency to greater than 95%. The payback period is highly dependent on fuel cost. A laboratory test program is recommended to determine operating characteristics. |
