Abstract
CERCLIS is the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Information System. It is the official repository for all Superfund site and incident and and contains comprehensive information on potential and confirmed hazardous waste sites, preliminary assessments, site inspections and remedial actions. The system is sponsored by the Information Management Center in EPA's Office of Emergency and Remedial Response. The Archive (NFRAP) database consists of sites that have no further remedial action planned. Assessments at these sites have been completed and the EPA has determined that no further steps will be taken to list these sites on the National priorities List (NPL). This decision does not necessarily mean that there is no hazard associated with a given site; it means that based upon available information, the location is not judged to be a potential NPL site. The List 8T Report displays the sequence of activities taken at Archive (NFRAP) sites. It consists of those sites which have been removed and archived from the inventory of Superfund sites maintained in CERCLIS. The List 9 Report displays the sequence of activities taken at active sites. An active site is one at which site assessment, removal. Remedial, enforcement, cost recovery, or oversight activities are being planned or conducted. For many sites, the report also includes a narrative description of a site's history, location and geology, nearby populations, current and former land use, and suspected contaminants. The SCAP 11 Report displays the sequence of activities taken at sites on the National Priorities List, or NPL sites. These include sites on the proposed NPL, sites currently on the final NPL, and sites deleted from the final NPL, and sites deleted from the final NPL. Where available, the report includes the funding information for each action, as well as site characterization data. The SCAP 12 Report displays the sequence of activities taken at sites not on the National Priorities List, or non-NPL sites. Non-NPL sites include sites removed from the proposed NPL, sites withdrawn from the final NPL, sites being addressed as part of an NPL site, and all other non-NPL sites.
