Abstract |
The report discusses water quality and quantity requirements for various puposes, the limitations of streams as waste carriers, the economics of water pollution, and many other aspects of the problems involved in the preparation of comprehensive water pollution control plans. It points out that growing demands for water and limitations on developable supplies mean that we must reuse river flows over and over again in many areas and that we are rapidly running out of clean water. Thus the management of water resources presents a problem of the first magnitude. It includes with a discussion of research needs and other requirements for water quality management. |
