Abstract |
The Basic Water Monitoring Program was developed to bring structure and order to State Monitoring Programs in response to Public Law 92-500. (1) The program is designed to redirect State monitoring from fixed-station single discharge to an intensive survey approach. (2) Identify dischargers and assess their water quality impact. (3) Define number and type of stations operated by States. (4) Provide a coordinated nationwide assessment of selected toxic pollutants. (5) Ensure that data collected are used in decision-making process and to educate the public and inform the Congress. |
