Abstract
This paper describes an emission factor database applicable to the disposal of munitions and propellants through unconfined, open air burning and detonation process (OB/OD). The emission factor database are the predominate means for disposing of these materials worldwide. The emission factor database was compiled using data from seven DoD studies. These studies characterized the particulate mass, semivolatile organic, dioxin, furan, toxic metals, volatile organic and inorganic pollutants released when 36 energetic materials were either detonated or burned in a 730 cu m chamber.
