Abstract
State of the Border Region 2010 provides information on the status and trends of environmental quality and environmental health in the U.S.-Mexico border region. In doing so, it also illustrates progress made under the U.S.-Mexico Border 2012 program and identifies areas for further binational work beyond 2012. This report builds on the flagship 2005 State of the Border Region report. It updates many of the indicators first reported in 2005, adds new indicators, and includes place-specific highlights that could become border-wide indicators in the future. As with the 2005 report, this report is structured around the six goals of Border 2012 with chapters on water, air, land, environmental readiness and response, and enforcement and compliance. Indicators that support Border 2012's additional goal, environmental health, cut across the other five goals and are included throughout the report in the most appropriate chapter.
