Abstract
The Chemical Manufacturers Association (CMA) recently received preliminary results of a long-term toxicity study on butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) in rats. The study was conducted by the Institute of Toxicology, National Food Institute of Denmark. Preliminary results of the study were presented by Dr. Preben Olsen of the Institute at the European Toxicology Forum in Geneva, Switzerland, on October 22, 1983. The authors conclude that BHT at a high dose produced liver tumors in male rats.
