| Abstract |
The World Weather Program is an international effort to provide man with the knowledge and capability not only to understand the atmosphere but also to make available environmental warnings, forecasts, and assessment which contribute to his well-being. The three basic components of the World Weather Program are the World Weather Watch (WWW), the Global Atmospheric Research Program (GARP), and the Systems Design and Technological Development Program. This Plan describes U.S. efforts in each of the components that either directly support or contribute to the World Weather Program goals. The opening section highlights the results of a decade of successful planning and action taken as part of the World Weather Watch, the operational aspect of the World Weather Program. Section 2 discusses the relationship of our national activities with those of other nations cooperating in the World Weather Program. Section 3 provides specific information on the U.S. planned efforts that contribute to or directly support the World Weather Programs goals in FY 1977. A fiscal summary of these programs is contained in the concluding section. |
