| Abstract |
Counts of live (green) and dead (yellow and brown) leaves, live and dead apical bud (tips), and live and dead trees completed for the 30 month period. The results for tips and trees are shown in Table 1. The number of apical buds or tips is closely related to leaf death in as much as there is a fairly constant number of leaves per tip. The data for dead trees are shown in Figure 1. It is apparent that the trees treated with oil, or oil followed by seawater wash, or oil followed by NIWBD wash have continued to die. The rate of tree deaths for each 6 month period is shown in Table 2. It is evident that: (1) there is still as excess of tree deaths in the 24 to 30 month period; (2) it is the same oil treatments (oil only, oil followed by NIWBD, and oil followed by seawater wash) but not the applications of dispersed oil (oil plus GEBD) that is responsible for tree deaths. |
