Abstract
The method is for the determination of dissolved elements in ambient waters at U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) water quality criteria (WQC) levels using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (IPC-MS). It may also be used for determination of total recoverable element concentrations in these waters. This method was developed by integrating the analytical procedures in EPA Method 200.8 with the quality control (QC) and sample handling procedures necessary to avoid contamination and ensure the validity of analytical results during sampling and analysis for metals at EPA WQC levels. This method contains QC procedures that will assure that contamination will be detected when blanks accompanying samples are analyzed.
