Abstract
This guideline delineates test procedures to evaluate the toxicity of liquids, solids, aerosols, and liquids propelled under pressure, to ocular tissues of laboratory animals. The test should demonstrate the potential of a substance to produce injury to the human eye. For humane reasons, substances known to be corrosive may be assumed to be eye irritants and should not be tested in the eye. Furthermore, substances shown to be severe irritants in dermal toxicity tests may be assumed to be eye irritants and need not be tested in the eye.
