Abstract
Two trials of a proposed system for the disposal of toilet-waste were made. The system investigated in the first trial consisted of three functional units: a grinder-type toilet, a receiving tank and a small pump. The hydraulically driven grinder was located below the bowl in the base of the toilet. The pump, operating continously, recirculated the tank contents through the toilet, furnishing power to drive the grinder, and liquid to flush the toilet. Solid particles deposted in the toilet bowl were flushed into the grinder where they were finely ground and carried in the liquid by gravity flow from the toilet to the receiving tank on the floor below. No effluent was discharged from the system. (Author)
