Abstract |
The report gives results of a review of the Winkler coal gasification process, from the standpoint of its potential for affecting the environment. The quantities of solid, liquid, and gaseous effluents have been estimated where possible, as well as the thermal efficiency of the process. For the purpose of reduced environmental impact, control systems, modifications, and alternatives which could facilitate pollution control or increase thermal efficiency are discussed, and new technology needs are pointed out. |
