Abstract
The Odessa Chromium I site consists of a series of chromium contaminated wells within 300 acres of residential, commercial and industrial properties and facilities just outside the northwestern city limits of Odessa, Ector County, TX. Nearly every residence or commercial facility is served by one or more water wells completed in the Trinity aquifer which offers the only source of potable groundwater. In 1983, the Texas Department of Water Resources (TDWR) requested the EPA conduct a planned removal action to extend the city water lines to the affected area. The remedial action includes negotiating agreements with the city and consumers to extend the city water system, and construction of a water distribution system. The estimated capital cost for this action is $247,920 with annual O&M costs of $14,350.
